Brock\u2019s new learning management system (LMS) is set to take centre stage.<\/p>\n
On Friday, June 30, the University\u2019s Brightspace LMS will replace Sakai as the default landing spot for the lms.brocku.ca<\/a> address, while Sakai will change to sakai.brocku.ca<\/a><\/p>\n The move comes as part of Brock\u2019s ongoing adoption of Brightspace<\/a>, which began in April 2022, and will see links across Brock University websites updated.<\/p>\n With more than 75 per cent of all courses at Brock using Brightspace this Spring Term, the address change removes a\u00a0circuitous\u00a0path through Sakai to Brightspace. Previously, all of a student\u2019s course sites were linked from within Sakai, regardless of if the course was taught in Sakai or Brightspace.<\/p>\n Matt Clare, Director of Technology Enabled Learning in Brock\u2019s Centre for Pedagogical Innovation (CPI) says Brightspace integrates much of the multimedia and other forms of teaching and learning that the Brock community has clearly expressed a need for.<\/p>\n \u201cWith this transition completed, I\u2019m excited for an LMS that better reflects what\u2019s possible at Brock University to be that first step in some amazing learning experiences,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n Brightspace training is currently available through online synchronous workshops on ExperienceBU<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0or asynchronous workshops\u00a0on the Brock University website<\/a>.<\/p>\n While the University will be closed on the day and weekend of the change, emergency inquires will be responded to at\u00a0edtech@brocku.ca<\/a><\/p>\n
