{"id":84385,"date":"2023-03-22T13:00:53","date_gmt":"2023-03-22T17:00:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=84385"},"modified":"2023-03-22T16:23:49","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T20:23:49","slug":"business-matters-event-to-look-at-the-future-of-social-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2023\/03\/business-matters-event-to-look-at-the-future-of-social-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Business Matters event to look at the future of social media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Next week, an online community event hosted by Brock University will aim to help businesses understand the fast-changing landscape of social media.<\/p>\n<p>The event on Tuesday, March 28 marks the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/goodman\/community-services\/business-matters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">eighth in a series<\/a> of Business Matters panel talks organized by Brock\u2019s Goodman School of Business and is moderated by Associate Professor of Marketing Todd Green.<\/p>\n<p>Green says that for most businesses and organizations, the cost of not using social media as part of their marketing promotion strategy is just too high, yet engaging on the platforms represents a steep learning curve, staff time commitment, and continuous education on trends and best practices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re hoping this discussion will help show businesses what\u2019s new, what\u2019s next and cover what they need to know to be successful operating in this constantly evolving environment,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n<p>Goodman has assembled a panel of industry practitioners with experience creating and executing social media strategies for public, private and non-profit organizations who will share their expertise and experiences.<\/p>\n<p>Panelists include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cass Cervi, Strategist at No Fixed Address<\/li>\n<li>Christina Garnett, Principal Marketing Manager, Offline Community and Advocacy at HubSpot<\/li>\n<li>Meg Shannon, Communications Manager at Broadbent Institute<\/li>\n<li>Carly Snider, Strategy Director at Hughes &amp; Co.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Following the panel discussion, the online audience will be able to participate in a question-and-answer period.
