{"id":84261,"date":"2023-03-17T13:00:11","date_gmt":"2023-03-17T17:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=84261"},"modified":"2023-03-17T23:59:14","modified_gmt":"2023-03-18T03:59:14","slug":"yosif-al-hasnawi-memorial-lecture-to-take-place-march-20","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2023\/03\/yosif-al-hasnawi-memorial-lecture-to-take-place-march-20\/","title":{"rendered":"Yosif Al-Hasnawi Memorial Lecture to take place March 20"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Five years ago, upon learning about the fatal shooting of first-year Brock Medical Sciences student <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/applied-health-sciences\/yosif-lecture\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Yosif Al-Hasnawi<\/a> outside of a mosque in Hamilton, Zanab Jafry (BSc \u201918) founded a memorial lecture in Al-Hasnawi\u2019s name to help fulfil a responsibility to treat anti-racism as a necessary curriculum for future medical and health professionals.<\/p>\n<p>Jafry, now the Manager of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility and Anti-Racism at the University Health Network (UHN), will return to Brock University Monday, March 20 to deliver the lecture \u201cAdrift: recovering the lost potential, health status and quality of life of equity-seeking community members,\u201d which will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in South Block STH 204.
