{"id":84050,"date":"2023-03-07T12:54:36","date_gmt":"2023-03-07T17:54:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=84050"},"modified":"2023-03-07T20:00:02","modified_gmt":"2023-03-08T01:00:02","slug":"quigley-cup-womens-volleyball-championships-what-you-need-to-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2023\/03\/quigley-cup-womens-volleyball-championships-what-you-need-to-know\/","title":{"rendered":"Quigley Cup Women\u2019s Volleyball Championships: What you need to know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The stage is set for the Brock Badgers to defend their provincial women\u2019s volleyball championship title.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 3 nationally-ranked Badgers will host the 2023 Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Quigley Cup versus No. 6 Queen\u2019s Gaels at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Saturday, March 11 at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The winner earns a berth to the U SPORTS Women\u2019s Volleyball Championships, which take place in British Columbia from March 17 to 19.<\/p>\n<p>Due to the continued temporary suspension of the AudienceView platform, tickets for the Quigley Cup must be purchased in person at the Walker Complex Welcome Desk or over the phone by calling 905-688-5550 x4060.<\/p>\n<p>Purchases can be made beginning Wednesday, March 8 at 9 a.m. Cash, debit and credit transactions are accepted.<\/p>\n<p>The Badgers will have a chance to win their second consecutive title after <a href=\"https:\/\/gobadgers.ca\/news\/2022\/3\/19\/womens-volleyball-quigley-crown-brock-womens-volleyball-wins-oua-title-at-home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">last season\u2019s historic banner win<\/a> on home court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt means the world to us to reach the finals again, but the job is not done. The drive we have as a unit is unmatched and we\u2019re going to keep pushing until we\u2019re at the very top,\u201d said senior setter Sara Rohr. \u201cThe culture we have built has been unlike any other year I\u2019ve been at Brock. It\u2019s a testament to our whole program, including student-athletes, coaches, trainers, therapists and more.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brock swept Queen\u2019s in back-to-back meetings earlier this season and haven\u2019t lost to the Gaels since 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The Badgers placed first in the OUA standings with a record of 18-2 and led the conference in every major offensive category: kills per set (12.51), assists per assist (11.90) and points per set (16.5).<\/p>\n<p>Brock overcame the York Lions in the semifinals during a gritty four-set thriller at Bob Davis Gym last weekend.
