The Brock University community is saddened by the death of Facilities Management employee Brad Murray, who passed away Thursday, Feb. 23. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Murray was a friendly face at Brock for the past 20 years. His most recent assignment was as a dayshift Custodian for the Arthur Schmon Tower and Thistle Complex.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Scott Johnstone, Associate Vice-President, Infrastructure and Operations, said Murray was an outstanding employee who was steadfast and friendly. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe was always <\/span>busy doing his best and providing great customer service for the Brock community. He will be greatly missed by all,\u201d he said. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

“Brad <\/span>epitomized the definition of a quiet professional,\u201d said Dave McArthur, Director, Facilities and Services. \u201cHe just wanted to do a good job and was not looking for personal accolades or recognition.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Shane Jenkins, Past Union President for CUPE 1295 and one of Murray\u2019s co-workers, said Murray was an independent worker in both his professional and personal life.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBrad was a hard-working custodian, always asking his supervisors for extra work and new projects to complete,\u201d he said. \u201cHe took on all home projects by himself (home renovations) even when his co-workers offered help or assistance, as his independence was important to him.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Custodial Supervisor Frank Thomas recalls Murray’s attention to detail when he worked on the afternoon shift as a Floater\/Cleaner waxing floors.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/span>He was one of the best floor refinishers in our department,\u201d he said. \u201cHe loved using special floor polishing machines and enjoyed making floors nice and shiny in all buildings on campus. He took pride in that part of his job very much.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A private service will honour Murray\u2019s life.<\/span><\/p>\n
