Small but powerful acts of kindness will make their presence known at Brock University next week.<\/p>\n
Organized by the Brock Student Life and Success team and partners from across campus, Random Acts of Kindness Week takes place Monday, Feb. 13 to Friday, Feb. 17, with a variety of initiatives planned to brighten people’s days. The scheduled activities take inspiration from the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation\u2019s<\/a> goal of “making kindness the norm at school, home and work.”<\/p>\n While Brock has celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day in the past, Student Life Assistant Ayena Ahad said this year\u2019s activities would need more time.<\/p>\n “This year, we wanted to do Random Acts of Kindness through a whole week as we know that this is usually a very stressful time for students,\u201d she said in reference to the upcoming midterm season. \u201cWe want to support the Brock community through positive messages and small acts of service to encourage everyone to make kindness the norm here at the University.”<\/p>\n Spontaneous acts of kindness will be taking place across campus, with a variety of events also encouraging participants to be kind to one another. This developing list of activities includes:<\/p>\n Monday, Feb. 13 Tuesday, Feb. 14 Writing Valentine letters to a local retirement community in the Mackenzie Chown A Block hallway from 1 to 3 p.m.<\/a><\/p>\n Wednesday, Feb. 15 Friday, Feb. 17 Brock employees are also reminded to continue to consult the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation\u2019s workplace kindness calendar<\/a>, which has daily suggestions of kindness, compassion, appreciation and self-care.<\/p>\n Each month, the calendar focuses on a theme, such as inclusiveness, connection and gratitude. Examples of themed \u2018kindness and love\u2019 suggestions for February include:<\/p>\n Employees can also use the University\u2019s Be Mindful<\/a> platform to share messages of positivity, encouragement, acknowledgement, appreciation or gratitude with their colleagues.<\/p>\n
