Brock University\u2019s adoption of its new learning management system, Brightspace, continues with the transition of workplace health and safety training modules.<\/p>\n
More than 20 modules will move from Sakai to Brightspace, which features a simple and organized user interface.<\/span><\/p>\n After the transition to Brightspace on Wednesday, Feb. 1, a small sample of employees may receive an automated email from the system indicating they still need to complete health and safety training. Employees are asked to ignore this email. Any training already completed within Sakai does not have to be repeated in Brightspace.<\/span><\/p>\n Most employees have already completed Brock’s two mandatory health and safety training modules during their onboarding: Health and Safety Awareness Training and Workplace Violence.<\/span><\/p>\n In the event an employee has not completed the mandatory health and safety training modules, they will receive an email from a member of Human Resources\u2019 Health and Safety team, not an automatically generated email with a \u2018do not reply\u2019 address.<\/span><\/p>\n Supervisors may also recommend additional training for employees who work in lab environments or handle specialized equipment or substances. Questions about lab safety training can be emailed to Claudia Bucciarelli, Lab Safety Co-ordinator, via <\/span>cbucciarelli@brocku.ca<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Most employees, including graduate students, should have immediate access to their Health and Safety Training page in Brightspace. Faculty, staff and librarians can access the <\/span>Health and Safety Training page for employees<\/span><\/a>, while students can access the <\/span>Brock Student Health and Safety Training page<\/span><\/a>. Students who cannot access the training page can join via the \u2018Discover\u2019 tab located within the top menu bar of the Brightspace website. Students should only join the page upon request from their supervisor.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Other training modules, such as those offered by Human Rights and Equity, are in the process of being transitioned to Brightspace.<\/span><\/p>\n Employees are asked to email questions about health and safety training to <\/span>besafe@brocku.ca<\/span><\/a> and about Brightspace to <\/span>edtech@brocku.ca<\/span><\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
