Brock University researchers, including graduate students and post-doctoral fellows, are invited to attend \u2018<\/span>Introduction to Government Funding<\/span><\/a>‘ on Tuesday, Nov. 29, \u2018<\/span>The First Nations Principles of OCAP Presentation<\/span><\/a>‘\u00a0on Thursday, Dec. 1 and ‘<\/span>Idiosyncrasies of Google Scholar Indexing<\/span><\/a>‘\u00a0on Tuesday, Dec. 6. All three presentations will take place from noon to 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Introduction to Government Funding\u2019 will outline government funding opportunities in support of university-led research projects and the role <\/span>of Brock’s Office of Government and\u00a0Community Relations in supporting applications. The presentation will focus on govern<\/span>ment funding that\u00a0falls outside of the opportunities offered through the federal Tri-Agencies (<\/span>the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council). Presenters include <\/span>Meaghan Rusnell, Associate Vice-President, Government, Community and International Relations, and Daniel Grubb, Associate Director, Government Relations.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018The First Nations Principles of OCAP Presentation\u2019 is the second of a <\/span>four-part series focused on Indigenous research<\/span><\/a>. Representatives from the First Nations Information and Governance Centre will focus on OCAP, which stands for \u2018<\/span>ownership, control, access and possession<\/span><\/a>,’ to ensure First Nations people have control over data collection processes, and they own and control how the information can be used.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Idiosyncrasies of Google Scholar Indexing\u2019 will be led by Digital Scholarship Librarian Tim Ribaric, who will discuss the Google Scholar indexing process, its inaccuracies and how Brock researchers can properly index their own material.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Building Better Research is a professional development workshop series offered jointly by the Office of Research Services and Brock University Library to enhance research efforts at Brock.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
