Members of Brock University\u2019s research community are invited to attend an upcoming consultation session to learn about research data management (RDM), its importance and rationale, and to offer feedback on a draft institutional strategy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

RDM includes planning, managing and maintaining data that is collected or created through research.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Brock\u2019s draft RDM strategy<\/span><\/a> was developed by the University\u2019s RDM Working Group in response to the <\/span>Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy<\/span><\/a>, which requires Canadian universities to complete and implement a strategy by March 2023.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Tri-Agency consists of <\/span>the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Two consultation sessions are planned for next week: Wednesday, Nov. 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. via <\/span>Microsoft Teams<\/span><\/a> and Thursday, Dec. 1 from 3 to 4 p.m. in Rankin Family Pavilion room 214\/215.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sessions will be led by RDM Working Group members Nicole Nolan, Associate University Librarian, and Dawn Zinga, Associate Dean for the Faculty of Social Sciences. In addition to outlining Brock\u2019s draft RDM strategy and asking for feedback and input from the Brock research community, the pair will also define and discuss RDM in more detail, explain the rationale for RDM and the need for an institutional strategy, and welcome questions and comments about RDM and Brock\u2019s strategy.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe <\/span>are hoping that every researcher, regardless of discipline, will see themselves in this strategy,\u201d says Nolan.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Written feedback is also welcome via an <\/span>online form<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Those interested in attending a consultation session are asked to register for their preferred session via <\/span>ExperienceBU<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
