Digital data analysis, visualization and computation are being used more frequently among academics in their teaching and research.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

An upcoming webinar offered through Brock University\u2019s Building Better Research series will discuss digital scholarship, its technologies and tools, and the services and resources offered through the Brock Library Digital Scholarship Lab.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDigital scholarship describes the use of novel technologies and methods in teaching and research,\u201d said Tim Ribaric, Digital Scholarship Librarian, who will present<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Digital Scholarship Services @ Brock Library<\/span><\/a> on Thursday, Nov. 10 at noon.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOften, this results in interesting new outputs that are different from traditional papers,\u201d he said. \u201cThe ubiquity of new digital tools means there are many different options available for presenting research. This session will look at a few options the Digital Scholarship Lab offers to help investigate this.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Among other topics, Ribaric will discuss high-performance computing, dataset creation and visualization, and creating online exhibits of digitized materials, which are all becoming more accessible in today\u2019s information-rich landscape.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cScholars and researchers have been developing a slew of open-source tools that provide low barriers of entry to the emergent world of digital scholarship,\u201d said Ribaric. \u201cDisciplines that have not traditionally used digital scholarship, such as humanities and social sciences, can more easily access and embrace these new methodologies to advance teaching and research.\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
