The effective management of a firm\u2019s sales function is vital to revenue generation and organizational performance, and will be at the centre of this week\u2019s Goodman Luncheon Speaker Series<\/a> event.<\/p>\n

Recent research by V. Kumar, Salvatore Zizza Professor of Marketing in the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John\u2019s University, focuses on this rarely researched topic.<\/p>\n

His study examines whether there is an ideal allocation of managerial time and provides insight on appropriate sales team sizes to ensure optimal performance.<\/p>\n

He will present his findings on Friday, Oct. 28 during his talk, \u201cSpan of Control and Salesforce Performance: An Empirical Investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kumar has taught more than 30 courses within bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and doctoral programs around the world. His publications have consistently ranked him as a top scholar in the marketing field, and his work is published with commentaries from scholars in a 10-volume series by Sage Publication. He is also the recipient of the 2022 AMA\u2019s Charles Coolidge Parlin Award, which is the oldest and most distinguished award in the field.<\/p>\n

The Goodman speaker series provides Goodman faculty, staff and students with an informal opportunity to listen and discuss recent advances in research, teaching and practices with business colleagues.<\/p>\n

The talk will take place from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in Sankey Chamber. Goodman faculty, staff and students are invited to attend.
