{"id":80864,"date":"2022-10-04T16:30:27","date_gmt":"2022-10-04T20:30:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=80864"},"modified":"2022-10-04T16:30:27","modified_gmt":"2022-10-04T20:30:27","slug":"grad-students-to-showcase-canada-games-research-thursday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2022\/10\/grad-students-to-showcase-canada-games-research-thursday\/","title":{"rendered":"Grad students to showcase Canada Games research Thursday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When the Canada Games took place in Niagara this past summer, Brock University graduate students took the opportunity to dive into a variety of related research.<\/p>\n<p>Six of those projects \u2014 covering topics such as mother coaches of high-performing athletes, leveraging biomechanics and machine learning, and the economic burden of injuries \u2014 will be presented to the Brock community Thursday, Oct. 6 during the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2022\/09\/canada-games-teaching-research-community-engagement-outcomes-in-spotlight\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brock-Canada Games Academic Showcase<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/blogs\/campus-map\/pond-inlet\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Pond Inlet<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Faculty of Graduate Studies will host its <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/graduate-studies\/student-development\/research-cafe-sport-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Research Caf\u00e9<\/a> as part of the showcase from 3 to 5 p.m. The in-person event is free to attend.<\/p>\n<p>Check-in begins at 2:30 p.m., with opening remarks beginning at 3. The six chosen graduate student presenters will start shortly after speaking on their unique research related to the sport industry.<\/p>\n<p>Graduate Studies Research Caf\u00e9s provide a casual and supportive environment for Brock\u2019s grad students to practise delivering their research, in comparison to a traditional conference.<\/p>\n<p>For a full list of the graduate student presenters and their projects, visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/graduate-studies\/student-development\/research-cafe-sport-edition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Faculty of Graduate Studies website<\/a>.
