{"id":80752,"date":"2022-09-28T11:01:07","date_gmt":"2022-09-28T15:01:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=80752"},"modified":"2022-09-28T19:47:39","modified_gmt":"2022-09-28T23:47:39","slug":"women-in-leadership-presenter-to-challenge-meaning-of-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2022\/09\/women-in-leadership-presenter-to-challenge-meaning-of-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"Women in Leadership presenter to challenge meaning of leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rebecca Raby, Brock University Professor of Child and Youth Studies, is not entirely comfortable with idea of leadership.<\/p>\n<p>At the next Women in Leadership (WIL) meeting, Raby will talk about her personal reluctance to embrace terms such as leader and follower, and how this thinking connects to her scholarship.<\/p>\n<p>Raby will share stories of her own paths of involvement in \u201cParticipation, Facilitation, and Why I Don\u2019t Generally Consider Myself a Leader,\u201d despite having served in what she calls \u201cleadership-type roles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will also discuss some of the costs and rewards that these different kinds of involvement have held for me,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>Raby\u2019s session is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 4, from noon to 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. All who are interested are invited to attend.
