An upcoming Brock University webinar should be top of mind for brain researchers.<\/p>\n
The online session, held Wednesday, July 20 from 2 to 3 p.m., will focus on details of the Ontario Brain Institute\u2019s (OBI) invitation for research proposals under its six Integrated Discovery Programs<\/a> (IDP).<\/p>\n \u201cBuilding Better Research: Ontario Brain Institute Open Call for Integrated Discovery Programs<\/a>\u201d will feature presentations by Tom Mikkelsen, OBI President and Scientific Director, and Kirk Nylen, OBI Deputy Scientific Director and Vice President, Integrated Discovery and Informatics.<\/p>\n \u201cThis webinar will be of wide interest to the Brock University research community, which includes researchers across campus who study a whole host of brain-related topics, often in collaboration with clinicians, patients or industry partners,\u201d says Brock Associate Vice-President, Research Michelle McGinn.<\/p>\n \u201cThe session represents an important opportunity to learn about OBI, funding opportunities and available resources.\u201d<\/p>\n The OBI\u2019s Open Call<\/a> is looking for large-scale scientific programs that have a primary focus on prospective patient cohorts, hypothesis-driven research, testing and validation of new clinical tools, and open science.<\/p>\n This is done through the institute\u2019s Integrated Discovery Programs <\/a>, which are collaborative, translational brain research networks that harness patient and community involvement, industry collaboration and data-driven innovation.<\/p>\n They are established with the goal of deeply understanding clinical cohorts and generating evidence that will be translated into better care.<\/p>\n Successful IDPs will prioritize partnerships with industry, patients, caregivers and community organizations that drive patient-level impacts.<\/p>\n Part of Brock\u2019s Building Better Research<\/a> (BBR) series, an initiative jointly run by the Brock University Library and the Office of Research Services, the webinar is free, but registration is required<\/a>.<\/p>\n Geared to faculty members, graduate students and researchers across campus, the BBR series offers current and timely support in a complex and evolving research environment.<\/p>\n
