The world\u2019s largest international honour society has recognized a Brock University student for his achievements.<\/p>\n
Last month, Kinesiology student Steven Kottaras was named as a recipient of the Golden Key International Honour Society\u2019s Undergraduate Achievement Award. The honour, which is accompanied by US$1,000, recognizes outstanding students for demonstrating excellence throughout their undergraduate career.<\/p>\n
Founded in 1977, Golden Key welcomes the top 15 per cent of students from the Faculties of its member institutions and encourages students to focus on academic leadership and service to help them achieve their personal, professional and altruistic goals.<\/p>\n
As a part of Brock\u2019s Golden Key chapter, Kottaras participated in a variety of on- and off-campus research initiatives and served as a performance coach for the men\u2019s volleyball team, incoming president of the Canadian Blood Services chapter at Brock and a member of the University\u2019s Med Plus co-curricular program.<\/p>\n
Kottaras, who was honoured to receive the Golden Key award, hopes other students will consider joining Brock\u2019s chapter to help make the most of their University experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Golden Key Society at Brock fosters a positive environment and networking opportunities for young minds wanting to make a difference in their communities,\u201d he says. \u201cI plan to continue my hard work using this award towards my future endeavours in health care and research.\u201d<\/p>\n
Travis Greene, Brock\u2019s Leadership and Development Co-ordinator, says Kottaras\u2019 hard work and dedication serve as an example for the entire Brock community.<\/p>\n
\u201cNot only has Steven shown enough commitment to be a strong member of our Golden Key chapter, but he has demonstrated such a high level of achievement that he has been recognized on the global scale as well,\u201d says Greene. \u201cWe are incredibly proud of all Steven has accomplished in his time at Brock.\u201d<\/p>\n
