The newest items available to borrow from the Brock University Library will have nature lovers packing their hiking boots, swimsuits or fishing rods for summer adventures.<\/p>\n
The Brock Library has partnered with the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority (NPCA) to offer four 2022 NaturePlus membership passes<\/a> for loan.<\/p>\n While most NPCA conservation areas<\/a> are free to access, Ball\u2019s Falls, Binbrook, Chippawa Creek and Long Beach require an admission fee. The NaturePlus membership pass is valid for daily admission for one vehicle and all its occupants.<\/p>\n Conservation areas feature a variety of amenities and attractions, such as beaches, waterfalls, nature trails, campsites, fishing access, pavilions, picnic facilities, water equipment and barbecue rentals, splash pads, playgrounds and discovery courses. Interested visitors can learn more about what each conservation area has to offer by visiting the NPCA website<\/a>.<\/p>\n Monica Rettig, Head of User Services and Engagement with the Brock Library, says although the Brock Library focuses on supporting the University\u2019s teaching and learning mission, more energy has been dedicated to offering items for loan that can benefit the \u201cwhole student or person.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe are excited to work with the NPCA\u2019s library lending program to make it easier for the Brock community to appreciate our natural surroundings in Niagara,\u201d she says. \u201cBorrowing the NaturePlus passes is a great opportunity to get outside this summer.\u201d<\/p>\n NaturePlus membership passes are available for loan<\/a> at the Brock Library\u2019s Ask Us desk for seven days and cannot be renewed. Overdue fines are $5 per day, with a maximum fine of $50 for a lost pass.<\/p>\n Other items available at the Brock University Library include print and electronic books; stressbusters<\/a>, such as boardgames, puzzles, sport equipment and craft supplies; equipment<\/a>, such as broad-spectrum light therapy lamps, cables and video production kits; streaming videos resources<\/a>; and seeds from a new Seed Library<\/a> created in partnership with Brock’s Environmental Sustainability Research Centre with funding from WWF-Canada.<\/p>\n
