{"id":78558,"date":"2022-06-07T12:58:34","date_gmt":"2022-06-07T16:58:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=78558"},"modified":"2024-08-30T15:36:26","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T19:36:26","slug":"free-professional-headshots-available-through-new-brock-photo-booth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2022\/06\/free-professional-headshots-available-through-new-brock-photo-booth\/","title":{"rendered":"Free professional headshots available through new Brock photo booth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new self-service photo booth at Brock University is now offering students and employees free professional-quality headshots.<\/p>\n<p>Recently brought to campus by the Co-op, Career and Experiential Education (CCEE) office, the BrockU Headshot Booth is part of CCEE\u2019s continuing efforts to provide innovative experiences and opportunities that support the career readiness of Brock\u2019s student population and community.<\/p>\n<p>CCEE Director Cara Krezek says the booth \u2014 an Iris Air \u2014 will help Brock students showcase their LinkedIn profile, which is becoming increasingly important in developing a personal brand.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to LinkedIn, having a professional photo on your profile will receive 21 times more profile views and nine times more connection requests,\u201d she says. \u201cThe world of work is evolving quickly, and we need to prepare students to keep up with this rapidly changing environment.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_78559\" style=\"width: 401px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-78559\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-78559\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Iris-Photobooth-1050x840.jpg\" alt=\"A white photo backdrop stands against a red wall. In front of the backdrop is a white stool that faces a tall digital screen with the words \u2018iris\u2019 written on it.\" width=\"391\" height=\"313\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-78559\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The new BrockU Headshot Booth is housed in CareerZone, which can be accessed from Market Hall.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Krezek says the booth also removes financial barriers to getting professional photos done, which can be costly and time consuming.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt levels the playing field by making studio-quality headshots available to everyone at the click of a button,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond LinkedIn and other social media accounts, the headshots can also be used when attending conferences or other professional events and displayed on professional or personal websites.<\/p>\n<p>Brock University is the only post-secondary institution in Canada with the Iris Air, which features studio-grade lighting, professional camera equipment, powerful editing tools and custom filters that help create a high-quality portrait.<\/p>\n<p>Each session takes about five minutes and offers a touchless experience using one&#8217;s smart phone as a remote.
