Lessons learned in the health-care system during COVID-19 will be at the centre of a student-led Brock event taking place this weekend.<\/p>\n
Hosted both in person and virtually, the 2022 Exploring Healthcare Quality Improvement (EHQI) Conference takes place Saturday, March 26\u00a0from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe conference, themed \u201cBuilding Back Better \u2014 Lesson Learned from the COVID-19 Pandemic<\/em>, has an amazing lineup of keynote and breakout session presenters,\u201d Conference Co-ordinator Evelin Melekh says. \u201cThe EHQI conference planning team has\u00a0created breakout sessions\u00a0to target a\u00a0variety of individuals ranging from undergraduate and graduate students to industry professionals who are interested in or have a passion for quality improvement.\u201d<\/p>\n Hosted by Brock\u2019s Interprofessional Education for Quality Improvement Program<\/p>\n (I-EQUIP) program, with support from the Brock University Chapter of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, the event\u2019s keynote speakers include Madelyn Law, Brock\u2019s\u00a0Associate Vice-Provost, Teaching and Learning, Associate Professor of Health Sciences, and Founder and Director of I-EQUIP;\u00a0Ekta Khemani, an attending anesthesiologist, Assistant Professor in Anesthesia and the Clinical Fellowship Director for the Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Fellowship Program in the Faculty of Anesthesia at the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine; Carol Fancott, Director, Patient Engagement and Partnerships at Healthcare Excellence Canada; and Adrienne Zarem, a patient partner at Healthcare Excellence Canada.<\/p>\n Topics for breakout sessions include an introduction to quality improvement, the importance of patient engagement, knowledge translation, engaging diverse populations in quality improvement and data driven decision-making.
