Brock edged the Nipissing Lakers 2-1 in North Bay to clinch the team\u2019s first Ontario University Athletics (OUA) Women&#8217;s Hockey Championship.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can&#8217;t stop smiling, crying and screaming. We are so proud of one another, because we promised we would do it for each other,&#8221; said senior defenceman\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gobadgers.ca\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9428\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Paige Cohoon<\/a>. &#8220;If I had one word to describe this team, it&#8217;d be family. At the end of the day, it doesn&#8217;t matter the talent you have, what matters is the heart. This team&#8217;s heart is unstoppable.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cohoon&#8217;s power-play goal at 9:07 of the second period stood as the game winner.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is absolutely no one I&#8217;d rather celebrate this huge accomplishment with,&#8221; she said of her team. &#8220;There&#8217;s no one else I&#8217;d rather make history with.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Brock goaltender\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gobadgers.ca\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9445\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Tiffany Hsu<\/a>\u00a0made 19 saves for the win, including seven critical saves in the final frame.<\/p>\n<p>The Badgers&#8217; leading goal scorer,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gobadgers.ca\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9437\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cassidy Maplethorpe<\/a>, lit the lamp to open the scoring early in the second after a scoreless first period.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gobadgers.ca\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9424\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Carley Blomberg<\/a>\u00a0finished the night with two assists. Maplethorpe and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gobadgers.ca\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9435\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Emma Irwin<\/a>\u00a0each added an assist.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t even describe what it feels like right now. To make history and win the McCaw\u00a0Cup with such an incredible team is the best feeling in the world,&#8221; said captain\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/gobadgers.ca\/roster.aspx?rp_id=9429\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kaitlyn Colonna<\/a>.\u00a0&#8220;Our team is a family and we would give absolutely anything for one another. The heart of this team is what got us this win. We&#8217;re not done.
