Launching a research or innovation project can require a wealth of resources from external support outside the academic realm.<\/p>\n
It can be challenging to source the right team and supports necessary for success.<\/p>\n
To assist in the search, Brock\u2019s Faculty of Mathematics and Science (FMS) created the Data Science Seminar Series, which provides a platform for students, researchers and entrepreneurs from the University community and beyond to expand their knowledge, exchange ideas and promote collaborations in the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).<\/p>\n
Hosted by Professor Yifeng Li, the next session in the series will take place Thursday, March 10 from noon to 1:00 p.m. and feature Greg MacNeill, a business development specialist with Mitacs.<\/p>\n
MacNeill will present the talk, \u201cUsing Mitacs Funding to Support Research and Innovation Collaborations.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mitacs is a national not-for-profit funding agency working to encourage collaborations in research and innovation between academic and non-academic partners in Canada.<\/p>\n
Attendees will learn how Mitacs can help determine the scope of a project, develop the roadmap to achieve research goals and offer support from a team of 80 business development experts to identify the right expertise to address a project\u2019s business challenges.<\/p>\n
The presentation will discuss how Mitacs funding programs, and extended eligibility for interns and partners, can foster collaborations and enhance research, and how faculty and students can use these to enhance their research and innovation work.<\/p>\n
The Data Science Seminar Series is open to everyone and each presentation lasts 45 minutes, followed by 15 minutes for questions and answers.<\/p>\n
