{"id":76927,"date":"2022-03-07T12:33:15","date_gmt":"2022-03-07T17:33:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=76927"},"modified":"2022-03-16T13:00:40","modified_gmt":"2022-03-16T17:00:40","slug":"brock-launches-second-round-of-indigenous-research-grant","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2022\/03\/brock-launches-second-round-of-indigenous-research-grant\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock launches second round of Indigenous Research Grant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock\u2019s Office of Research Services is now accepting applications for the second round of the University\u2019s Indigenous Research Grant.<\/p>\n<p>Launched last year, the grant provides up to $7,500 for two years for faculty to undertake research or creative activities in any discipline and on any topic that relates to Indigenous Peoples.<\/p>\n<p>While preference will be given to research that is led by or involves partnership with First Nations, Inuit and M\u00e9tis Peoples, proposals for research involving Indigenous Peoples globally are welcome.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of areas include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Social innovation related to Indigenous issues.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge-based practices in the development of Indigenous curriculum.<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of health service utilization by Indigenous Peoples, specifically focused on health services for Brock\u2019s Indigenous students.<\/li>\n<li>Factors influencing recruitment and retention of Indigenous students.<\/li>\n<li>Governance and leadership in Indigenous communities.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge-based practices for volunteerism with Indigenous Peoples.<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous health practices and promotion.<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous language revitalization.<\/li>\n<li>Addressing violence against Indigenous Peoples.<\/li>\n<li>Indigenous community-driven research agendas.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Grants will be adjudicated as they are received and while funding is available.<\/p>\n<p>While applications will be accepted on a continuous intake basis, submissions must be received by Monday, April 18 to be considered for funding out of the 2021-22 envelope. Note that applications must be signed by the applicant, their Department Chair and Associate Dean of Research.
