Brock University will celebrate International Women\u2019s Day on Tuesday, March 8 with several events aimed at celebrating women\u2019s achievements, raising awareness against bias and taking action for equality.<\/p>\n
To help the University community learn more about the worldwide day of recognition, which this year is themed #BreakTheBias, Brock\u2019s Office of Human Rights and Equity (HRE) is challenging students, staff and faculty to explore the International Women\u2019s Day website<\/a> and test their knowledge with a series of follow-up questions. More information on this asynchronous event is available on ExperienceBU<\/a>.<\/p>\n On Tuesday, March 8 at noon, HRE will also host a workshop about practising self-care, self-regulation practices and mindfulness. The event includes two components: a 30-minute Sakai module, which must be completed in advance, and a one-hour Teams seminar, during which participants will discuss what they learned and engage in experiential activities.<\/p>\n Register on ExperienceBU<\/a> at least three hours prior to the scheduled seminar to gain access to the Sakai module. The workshop is part of a Gender and Sexual Violence Support Certificate program<\/a>.<\/p>\n For anyone looking to have a safe and open discussion with the Gender and Sexual Violence Peer Support Team on Tuesday, HRE has its Peer 2 Peer drop-in hours available from 9 to 11 a.m., and noon to 7 p.m. More information is available on the HRE website<\/a>.<\/p>\n The Brock University Students\u2019 Union, along with other Ontario student associations, will host a virtual talk by Nadya Okamoto, founder of lifestyle brand August and author of Period Power<\/em>.<\/p>\n Open to all Brock students, Okamoto\u2019s talk, \u201cFinding purpose in menstrual equity and becoming a changemaker,\u201d takes place Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. on Zoom. To register, visit the BUSU website<\/a>.<\/p>\n In advance of International Women\u2019s Day, Brock’s Faith and Life Centre’s female chaplains have been leading a series called \u201cWomen in the Bible\u201d to celebrate the voices of women throughout Judeo-Christian scriptures. The next session in the series takes place Monday, March 7 at 5 p.m. in Alphie\u2019s Trough.
