Brock University\u2019s Digital Scholarship Lab (DSL) is reopening Monday, Feb. 28 for drop-in use.<\/p>\n
The DSL is a collaborative and multi-disciplinary hub for digital scholarship on campus, offering faculty and student researchers tools and resources in support of research data management, data visualization, data processing, digital preservation and digital pedagogy.<\/p>\n
While many of the DSL’s workshops and resources are available online, the tools and technology it offers are located on the ground floor of the Rankin Family Pavilion (RFP 216).<\/p>\n
Since January, the space has been available by appointment only. Beginning Feb. 28, in-person, drop-in hours will resume Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.<\/p>\n
The DSL is home to specialized equipment, such as high-performance computers that can help Brock faculty and student researchers manage, analyze and visualize data; and a state-of-the-art visualization wall that features three 70-inch high-definition LCD display panels for presenting various forms of digital content.<\/p>\n
Brock researchers and instructors are invited to pop by the space to see what\u2019s available and consult with DSL staff about their research or data needs, such as high-performance computing; data management, storage and visualization; and digital book and journal publishing.<\/p>\n
DSL staff can also work with instructors to schedule class workshops in the space or online, and develop modules that fit their course curriculum.<\/p>\n
Free online workshops, listed on ExperienceBU<\/a> and Eventbrite<\/a>, take place regularly on topics such as computational programming, data management and geographic information systems.<\/p>\n
