Live fitness events, virtual workshops, recordings, articles, videos and other learning resources can help employees reshape their daily routine and maintain a long-term healthy lifestyle.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnnual resolutions can be a great way to set health and wellness goals but developing positive daily habits will build a foundation for change and keep you on track to actually achieving those goals,\u201d said Martina Ciglenecki, Health Management Consultant with Brock\u2019s Health and Wellness team. \u201cMaking a commitment to doing something each day is an effective way to establish healthy habit-forming behaviour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some of the workshops included in the Wellness Reset are part of the regular programming organized by Brock\u2019s Health and Wellness Team, and are featured in the February Wellness Calendar:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A presentation on <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/hr\/training\/focus\/courses.php?cid=2502\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Ergonomics 101<\/a> led by a chiropractor.<\/li>\n<li>A 30-minute <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/hr\/training\/focus\/courses.php?cid=2504\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">virtual yoga session<\/a> led by Brock Recreation staff.<\/li>\n<li>A discussion about which staple foods are <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/hr\/training\/focus\/courses.php?cid=2503\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">In a Nutritionist\u2019s Pantry<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>A presentation about <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/hr\/training\/focus\/courses.php?cid=2505\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Good Decisions for Overall Health<\/a> by a naturopathic doctor.<\/li>\n<li>An information session about the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/hr\/training\/focus\/courses.php?cid=2506\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">free virtual fitness platform LIFT<\/a>, which is available through the University\u2019s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP) provider LifeWorks.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Wellness Reset also incorporates some of the wellness resources recently released by LifeWorks, such as a <a href=\"https:\/\/wellbeing.lifeworks.com\/ca\/newsletter-content\/video-refresh-your-wellbeing-using-smart-goals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">video outlining how to refresh well-being using SMART goals<\/a> and an <a href=\"https:\/\/wellbeing.lifeworks.com\/ca\/newsletter-content\/restoring-healthy-habits-when-youre-burned-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article about restoring healthy habits when burnt-out<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Ciglenecki said the Wellness Reset offers daily suggestions based on the resources available at Brock and through the University\u2019s health and wellness partners, but employees can add their own health and wellness activities to personalize their experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s important that reading material, workshops and other learning opportunities are relevant to each employee based on their individual health and wellness needs,\u201d she said. \u201cThe resources offered as part of the Wellness Reset are a great starting point but are certainly not the only ones available.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>There are nearly 100 videos and articles from LifeWorks posted to the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.sharepoint.com\/Health-Safety-and-Wellness-Toolbox\/SitePages\/EFAP.aspx#wellness-newsletters-from-lifeworks%2c-formerly-shepell\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Employee Wellness SharePoint site<\/a> on topics such as communication, fitness, nutrition, resiliency, mindfulness, grief, financial planning, parenting, caregiving, making friends at work, establishing healthy routines, practising gratitude, and managing stress and anxiety.<\/p>\n<p>Lifeworks has also recently released a <a href=\"https:\/\/brockuniversity.lifeworks.com\/life\/employee-assistance\/articles\/life\/personal-issues\/well-being\/deep-breathing_self-care-microsite-video?utm_source=heartbeat&amp;utm_medium=acoustic&amp;utm_campaign=Jan_ca_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">deep breathing exercise video<\/a> and an <a href=\"https:\/\/brockuniversity.lifeworks.com\/life\/employee-assistance\/articles\/life\/personal-issues\/balancing-work-and-life\/ten-ways-to-bounce-back?utm_source=heartbeat&amp;utm_medium=acoustic&amp;utm_campaign=Jan_ca_en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">article about 10 ways to bounce back<\/a> on its <a href=\"https:\/\/brockuniversity.lifeworks.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">LifeWorks online wellness platform<\/a>, which is freely accessible to all Brock employees and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Staff and faculty who have not yet signed up on the platform can do so at <a href=\"https:\/\/brockuniversity.lifeworks.com\/signup\/invitation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">brockuniversity.lifeworks.com<\/a> using a unique invitation code included in an email from LifeWorks,\u00a0or through the LifeWorks\u00a0mobile\u00a0app via\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/ca\/app\/workangel\/id662088737\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Apple<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=com.wam.android&amp;hl=en-CA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Google<\/a>. Once registered and logged in, employees can\u00a0invite up to five\u00a0family\u00a0members\u00a0to join the LifeWorks platform.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0LifeWorks wellness platform\u00a0features articles,\u00a0podcasts\u00a0and videos\u00a0curated\u00a0based on employee preferences; well-being self-assessments; automated fitness journeys and live chat access to coaches through the LIFT session app; exclusive discounts and special offers called \u2018perks\u2019; and \u2018CareNow\u2019 programs based on\u00a0cognitive-behavioural\u00a0therapy, such as coping, stress and work-life balance.<\/p>\n<p>Brock University employees and their immediate family members can continue to access free,\u00a0voluntary\u00a0and confidential EFAP\u00a0support\u00a0services 24-7 by selecting the phone icon in the LifeWorks app or calling 1-844-880-9138.\u00a0The LifeWorks app can also be used to chat online or schedule an in-person or video session.<\/p>\n<p>A recording of a recent information session that reviewed many of the EFAP offerings available to Brock employees is posted to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4mGT2qbqRoo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Employees are encouraged to join the <a href=\"https:\/\/web.yammer.com\/main\/groups\/eyJfdHlwZSI6Ikdyb3VwIiwiaWQiOiIxMDY2ODI1MSJ9\/new\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Employee Wellness Yammer community<\/a> to stay up to date on wellness resource offerings and connect with colleagues.
