Brock researchers are invited to attend four upcoming webinars dedicated to enhancing research efforts at the University.<\/p>\n
Four online information sessions will take place this month, beginning this week, as part of the Building Better Research<\/a>\u00a0professional development workshop series offered jointly by the Brock University Library and the Office of Research Services.<\/p>\n All workshops take place from noon to 1 p.m. via Microsoft Teams.<\/p>\n Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in Research Proposals<\/a> will be presented by Research Officer Sharlee Cranston-Reimer on Thursday, Jan. 13. The workshop, which was originally scheduled to take place Dec. 17, will provide a general overview of what some competitions are requesting in terms of equity, diversity and inclusion, as well as an overview of resources and best practices. Read more about the workshop<\/a> in a Brock News<\/em> article from December, prior to the new date being announced.<\/p>\n An Introduction to Research Metrics and the Dimensions Database<\/a> will be presented by Chelsea Humphries, Liaison Librarian, and Elizabeth Yates, Liaison and Scholarly Communication Librarian, on Tuesday, Jan. 18. The session will provide an overview of some of the most common citation metrics and altmetrics used to measure research impact, and will highlight how the freely available Dimensions database makes it easy for researchers to track their own metrics.<\/p>\n Introduction to Proposal Writing<\/a> will be presented by Project Facilitator Julie Gregory and Research Officers Vincent Annibale, Sharlee Cranston-Reimer, Karen Espiritu, Danusha Kalinga, Suramya Mihindukulasuriya, Monika Ovsonka and Laura Smithson on Friday, Jan. 21. They will review the basics of proposal writing.<\/p>\n Hands on Introduction to Text Analysis<\/a> will be presented by Digital Scholarship Librarian Tim Ribaric. The session will introduce basic techniques and investigate possible trends that might be discoverable in a corpus of text. This will be done by using the Google Colab environment to analyze a text that is more than 100 years old.
