They are also home to millions of people. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, has illuminated many new and existing inequities, which are shaping the realities of life in rural Canada.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>In our work with the\u00a0Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation, we co-edited the 2021\u00a0State of Rural Canada Report. The report provides a snapshot of key rural issues while also highlighting opportunities, recovery and resiliency in each province and territory.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Rural resilience in changing times<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Rural communities across Canada are facing unprecedented changes \u2014 from\u00a0demographic shifts\u00a0and\u00a0economic restructuring to the\u00a0impacts of climate change\u00a0and weak\u00a0rural development policies and programs.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated many changes impacting rural communities.
