{"id":75056,"date":"2021-11-05T13:17:13","date_gmt":"2021-11-05T17:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=75056"},"modified":"2021-11-09T16:18:04","modified_gmt":"2021-11-09T21:18:04","slug":"brock-to-mark-aboriginal-veterans-day-remembrance-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/11\/brock-to-mark-aboriginal-veterans-day-remembrance-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock to mark Aboriginal Veterans Day, Remembrance Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock University is encouraging its students, faculty and staff to take some time next week to reflect on two important days of awareness: National Aboriginal Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 8 and Remembrance Day on Thursday, Nov. 11.<\/p>\n<p>While a small gathering will be held on campus Thursday, the University is inviting the community to visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brocku.ca\/remember\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brocku.ca\/remember<\/a>, which includes information about the two national days of remembrance, links to more information, messages from University and student leaders, and links to national and local Aboriginal Veterans Day and Remembrance Day events.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, Nov. 11, a brief ceremony will be livestreamed from Brock\u2019s Rankin Family Pavilion where Interim Brock President Lynn Wells will deliver opening remarks before a moment of silence at 11 a.m. and the placing of wreaths in front of the Brock cenotaph. Joining Wells will be Brock University Students\u2019 Union President Rafay Rehan, Graduate Students\u2019 Association President Christopher Yendt, Board of Trustees Chair Mark Arthur and Royal Canadian Legion 17 representatives Dave Hale and Donna Hale.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To watch the ceremony, and to see other video messages, please visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.brocku.ca\/remember\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">brocku.ca\/remember<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those looking for an in-person ceremony are encouraged to find a Remembrance Day event in their community.
