{"id":74917,"date":"2021-10-28T10:53:55","date_gmt":"2021-10-28T14:53:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=74917"},"modified":"2021-10-28T10:53:55","modified_gmt":"2021-10-28T14:53:55","slug":"brock-community-invited-to-host-events-for-international-education-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/10\/brock-community-invited-to-host-events-for-international-education-week\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock community invited to host events for International Education Week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As the schedule of events for International Education Week begins to take shape, more proposals are being sought for sessions that highlight various cultures and celebrate internationalization.<\/p>\n<p>Promoted by the <a href=\"https:\/\/cbie.ca\/upcoming-events\/international-education-week\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Canadian Bureau for International Education<\/a>, the annual event takes place Monday, Nov. 15 to Friday, Nov. 19 with a mix of both virtual and in-person offerings.<\/p>\n<p>Hosted by Brock International Services, International Education Week aims to not only help create a community of globally minded citizens, but also offers a fun environment to learn about different cultures.<\/p>\n<p>Brock staff, faculty, students, student clubs, academic units, departments and Faculties interested in hosting international education-themed events during the annual celebration are encouraged to apply. Proposals should focus on the importance of internationalization, <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/strategic-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">highlighted in the University\u2019s Strategic Plan<\/a>, and demonstrate the impact of global education in preparing students for the world of tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s lineup already includes diverse panel discussions, trivia, Bollywood dance lessons and networking opportunities with successful Brock alumni, and more.<\/p>\n<p>Events can be virtual or in-person, providing they follow the current COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions for room capacity and screening. Many departments at the University have already committed to event offerings for the week, including Aboriginal Student Services, Child and Youth Studies, ESL Services and Human Rights and Equity, in addition to the Brock University Students\u2019 Union and various student clubs.<\/p>\n<p>To apply, please <a href=\"mailto:cguevara@brocku.ca\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">email proposals to Carolyn Villella<\/a>, International Student Life Specialist, Brock International Services, by Wednesday, Nov. 3 for consideration.<\/p>\n<p>More information on International Education Week, including a full schedule of events, will be released in <em>The Brock News<\/em> in the coming weeks.
