Digitizing the photographic legacy of the Canada Games.<\/p>\n<p>These are some examples of current research and scholarship related to the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/canada-games\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games<\/a> that began last year with support from the <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/canada-games\/research-subcommittee\/vpr-grants-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VPR Canada Games Grants program<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Vice-President, Research Tim Kenyon says he is excited to be offering a third round of funding this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a wonderful opportunity for our researchers in all disciplines to engage with the wider Niagara community as we contribute to building the Canada Games legacy,\u201d says Kenyon.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/teams.microsoft.com\/l\/meetup-join\/19%3ameeting_NDM0M2E1ZDgtNGUwZS00OThjLThkMmYtNjgzYmUxZDNhODc1%40thread.v2\/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%2276ae1115-1efc-4af2-a536-e2b2443af1a0%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22da67bb90-d9fa-4f77-9446-5c0b3293cc30%22%7d\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">An online information session describing the Canada Games Grant<\/a> and how to apply will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 10 from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Those interested in attending should contact Research Officer Monika Ovsonka, <a href=\"mailto:movsonka@brocku.ca\">movsonka@brocku.ca<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the VPR Canada Games Grants program is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allow for small-scale innovation and experimentation by providing funding to develop a research project or creative activity related to the Canada Games<\/li>\n<li>Enable researchers to hire students at any level to participate in their project or activity thereby contributing to their professional development<\/li>\n<li>Build research capacity across all disciplines<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Transdisciplinary collaborations are encouraged and grants are valued up to $7,000 per single project.<\/p>\n<p>The Canada Games Grant information session on Nov. 10 will include presentations by Dan Wilcock, President and CEO of the Canada Games Council, and Barry Wright, CEO at Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games.<\/p>\n<p>The first two rounds of VPR grants have resulted in 22 projects, 11 from <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2020\/01\/special-fund-recipients-announced-for-canada-games-related-research\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2019-20<\/a> and 11 from <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/04\/recipients-of-brock-funding-for-canada-games-related-research-announced\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">2020-21<\/a>, across a range of research and scholarship programs involving researchers across all six Faculties and the library.<\/p>\n<p>In preparation for the information session, Julie Stevens, Special Advisor to the President \u2014 Canada Games, has put together a short video, \u201cHow might a VPR Canada Games Research Grant relate to my research?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T9hK8IjedH0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Vice-President, Research Tim Kenyon is excited to be offering a third round of funding for research and scholarship related to the Niagara 2022 Canada Summer Games.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":20,"featured_media":72368,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1,5],"tags":[3592,6789,10206,10890,7488,98,607,384,348,522,594,3696,10891],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/74896"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/20"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=74896"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/74896\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":74905,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/74896\/revisions\/74905"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/72368"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=74896"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=74896"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=74896"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
