{"id":73941,"date":"2021-09-08T15:57:26","date_gmt":"2021-09-08T19:57:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=73941"},"modified":"2021-09-08T16:19:54","modified_gmt":"2021-09-08T20:19:54","slug":"brock-set-to-launch-rapid-antigen-screening-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/09\/brock-set-to-launch-rapid-antigen-screening-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock launches rapid antigen screening program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With Brock\u2019s vaccine mandate going into effect Tuesday, Sept. 7, the University\u2019s rapid antigen screening program is now also fully underway.<\/p>\n<p>In order to come onto campus without any testing requirements, all Brock students, faculty, staff and visitors will need to be fully vaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>Those who meet specific and limited medical or human rights accommodation criteria will be subject to ongoing rapid antigen screening.<a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/RapidAntigen3.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright wp-image-73948\" src=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/09\/RapidAntigen3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"346\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Anyone who is partially vaccinated (has a first dose and awaiting their second dose by Sept. 28) will be subject to rapid antigen screening until 14 days after the second dose.<\/p>\n<p>Brock University\u00a0is a member of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdlrapidscreeningconsortium.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Creative Destruction Lab (CDL) Rapid Screening Consortium<\/a>, which is a private sector-led, not-for-profit initiative formed in August 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Before coming to campus, anyone taking part in the program will undergo twice-weekly, at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen screening and results will be provided within 15 minutes of sample collection. Results will be de-identified and uploaded to Health Canada through a dedicated computer or mobile application.<\/p>\n<p>The program uses the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalpointofcare.abbott\/en\/product-details\/panbio-covid-19-ag-antigen-test.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Abbott Panbio COVID-19 Rapid\u00a0Antigen\u00a0Nasal Test devices<\/a>, which are available in boxes of 25 units at no charge to students, faculty and staff who qualify for the program.<\/p>\n<p>Instructions on how to arrange for pickup on campus will be sent to those whose exemption or partial vaccine documentation has been uploaded through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/coronavirus\/covid-19-vaccination\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vaccination Declaration Form<\/a> and verified.
