Unionized workers also experienced much greater levels of\u00a0job security\u00a0during the COVID-19 pandemic. But if the advantages of union membership are so obvious, why are\u00a0fewer than one in three\u00a0workers in Canada unionized?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>While there\u2019s no consensus about which factors are most likely to sway support for unionization, dissatisfaction with working conditions and the desire for dignity and voice at work\u00a0are often cited\u00a0as key reasons why workers seek out unions.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Wanting a union and securing a union, however, are two very different things.
