{"id":73219,"date":"2021-07-15T11:29:37","date_gmt":"2021-07-15T15:29:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=73219"},"modified":"2021-07-15T16:16:11","modified_gmt":"2021-07-15T20:16:11","slug":"brock-funding-series-of-projects-to-strengthen-the-universitys-pandemic-recovery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/07\/brock-funding-series-of-projects-to-strengthen-the-universitys-pandemic-recovery\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock funding series of projects to strengthen the University\u2019s pandemic recovery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock University is looking for innovative ways to ensure it emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic stronger than before.<\/p>\n<p>Through its new Academic Initiatives Fund (AIF), the University is supporting 18 projects aimed at attracting new student populations, building on retention initiatives, and better aligning academic offerings with industry needs and student demand.<\/p>\n<p>The AIF was created this spring to offer one-year seed funding for new initiatives that will address key priorities outlined in Brock\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/strategic-plan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Institutional Strategic Plan<\/a> and position the University to face the challenges of recovery from the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Proposals were submitted in early June, with options for \u2018shovel-ready\u2019 projects discussed with the Strategic Academic Leadership Team, which includes the Deans, the University Librarian and academic administrative leaders. Provost and Vice-President, Academic Lynn Wells, who is also now <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/07\/lynn-wells-hits-ground-running-as-brocks-interim-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brock\u2019s Interim President<\/a>, struck an administrative committee to review the proposals and make funding allocation recommendations.
