inclusion at centre of leadership talk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Leaders at all levels play an important role in contributing to Brock\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/strategic-plan\/priority-inclusivity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">culture of inclusivity, accessibility, reconciliation and decolonization<\/a> by welcoming people of all identities.<\/p>\n<p>To further emphasize the connection between leadership and inclusivity, an upcoming Women in Leadership (WIL) meeting will explore transgender-related issues, examining what presenter Jasper Fisher calls a \u201chighly misrepresented\u201d identity.<\/p>\n<p>Fisher, a Brock neuroscience student and member of Positive Living Niagara\u2019s Streetworks Team, along with Michelle Poirier, an advisor in Brock\u2019s Office of Human Rights and Equity, will lead a conversation about transgender inclusion on Wednesday, July 21,\u00a0from 1 to 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Fisher, who was involved with Poirier in the creation of Brock\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/human-rights\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/208\/Brock-University-Transgender-Inclusion-Guide-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Transgender-Inclusion Guide<\/a>, says he hopes the WIL session will increase participants\u2019 \u201ccomfort and familiarity with individuals in these communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This introductory session is expected to explore topics such as defining transgender, terminology, inclusion, privilege and social norms, and how the issue of transgender inclusion relates to all members of the Brock community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is my goal to create a space where you feel safe seeking answers to your questions without feeling embarrassed or uncomfortable,\u201d Fisher says.<\/p>\n<p>Details on
