Robyn Bourgeois, Brock\u2019s Acting Vice-Provost, Indigenous Engagement, brings her unique perspective on trauma and triumph to the next Women in Leadership (WIL) meeting.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, June 8 from 1 to 2 p.m., she will reprise one of her favourite talks: \u201cFrom Trauma to Triumph<\/a>.\u201d Originally presented at a meeting of the\u00a0Niagara Social Justice Forum, the talk will explore how trauma can be a source of strength in leadership.<\/p>\n As an Associate Professor of Women\u2019s and Gender Studies, Bourgeois researches Indigenous feminisms, violence against Indigenous women and girls, and Indigenous women\u2019s political activism and leadership.<\/p>\n Bourgeois (Laughing Otter Caring Woman) is a mixed-race Cree woman who was born and raised in Syilx and Splats\u2019in territories of British Columbia and is connected through marriage and her three children to the Six Nations of the Grand River.<\/p>\n Women\u202fin\u202fLeadership aims to support women in formal and informal leadership positions and encourage the next generation of potential women leaders.\u202fAll women and allies are invited to attend.\u202fIndividuals are welcome to\u202fjoin the WIL channel on Microsoft Teams<\/a>\u202for\u202fto contact\u202fJeannie Mackintosh<\/a>\u202fto be added to the WIL\u202femail\u202fdistribution list.<\/p>\n
