{"id":72111,"date":"2021-05-12T11:29:38","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T15:29:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=72111"},"modified":"2021-05-12T16:37:51","modified_gmt":"2021-05-12T20:37:51","slug":"symposium-to-highlight-impact-of-faculty-funded-covid-19-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/05\/symposium-to-highlight-impact-of-faculty-funded-covid-19-projects\/","title":{"rendered":"Symposium to highlight impact of Faculty-funded COVID-19 projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The experiences of racialized international students at Brock, sleep difficulties for children with autism spectrum disorder and <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/04\/applied-linguistics-to-launch-digital-campus-for-prospective-students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online resources for enhanced learning and recruitment<\/a> are among the Social Sciences research topics to be discussed at an online symposium next week.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, May 17 from 2 to 3:30 p.m., the public is invited to attend the second online symposium to\u00a0showcase work\u00a0that\u00a0was supported\u00a0through the Special\u00a0COVID-19-Related Dean&#8217;s Discretionary Fund.<\/p>\n<p>As the disruptive potential of the pandemic became clear in spring 2020,\u00a0the Office of the Dean of Social Sciences established the fund to support ongoing and innovative initiatives by members of\u00a0the Faculty as they pivoted\u00a0activities and projects to comply\u00a0with\u00a0the new COVID-19 context.<\/p>\n<p>Close to 30 projects received financial support to aid in reimagining and realigning activities. The <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/02\/researchers-share-fruits-of-faculty-funded-covid-19-projects\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">first COVID-19-related symposium<\/a> featuring faculty and graduate student presenters took place in February and highlighted 10 projects.
