{"id":71930,"date":"2021-04-28T15:52:02","date_gmt":"2021-04-28T19:52:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=71930"},"modified":"2021-04-29T12:18:46","modified_gmt":"2021-04-29T16:18:46","slug":"brock-university-seeking-indigenous-scholars-to-join-teaching-faculty-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/04\/brock-university-seeking-indigenous-scholars-to-join-teaching-faculty-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock University seeking Indigenous scholars to join teaching faculty\u00ad community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock University is looking to hire four new Indigenous faculty members, continuing work towards its goal of fostering a culture of inclusivity, accessibility, reconciliation and decolonization.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/careers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Recruitment has begun<\/a> for new tenure-track positions in Women\u2019s and Gender Studies\/Sociology; Canadian Indigenous History; and Indigenous Educational Studies, the latter for which two scholars are sought. The University aims to see an Indigenous academic fill each role.<\/p>\n<p>The new positions align with Brock\u2019s strategic priorities, which include the strengthening of relationships with Indigenous communities and partners across all sectors and activities of the University.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the last decade, Canadians have learned that the road to reconciliation and decolonization can be a long and bumpy one,\u201d said Lynn Wells, Brock\u2019s Provost and Vice-President, Academic. \u201cThis is no less true at Brock, yet this does not dull our commitment to this important societal project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remain strongly committed to increasing the diversity of views that inform the teaching and research we do, and especially Indigenous views and ways of knowing.
