{"id":71613,"date":"2021-04-12T14:33:02","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T18:33:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=71613"},"modified":"2021-04-12T16:41:36","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T20:41:36","slug":"sandbox-theatre-performance-to-explore-the-state-of-todays-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/04\/sandbox-theatre-performance-to-explore-the-state-of-todays-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Sandbox Theatre performance to explore the state of today\u2019s world"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Brock University\u2019s fourth-year Dramatic Arts (DART) student company, Sandbox Theatre, is exploring the cyclical nature of life, repetition of struggles for justice and the resilience of young people in a timely new online production entitled <em>Ouroboros.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The show runs Saturday, April 17 and Sunday, April 18 at 2 and 7:30 p.m. as livestreamed performances on the Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts (MIWSFPA) YouTube channel. The performances are free to view, but registration is required via <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.universitytickets.com\/?cid=185\">Brock University Tickets<\/a> to reserve a viewing spot.<\/p>\n<p>A presentation by DART 4F56 Advanced Studies in Theatre students, <em>Ouroboros<\/em> is a thought-provoking multimedia performance that brings together a range of perspectives and revelations about the manifestation of power in today\u2019s society.<\/p>\n<p>This virtual production is created, produced and performed by DART graduating students under the direction of guest Instructor Lisa Marie DiLiberto of Theatre Direct. Created through devised collaboration and directed by DART student Sid Malcolm, <em>Ouroboros<\/em> is inspired by individual theatre pieces curated into a theatrical anthology.<\/p>\n<p>The story is one of injustice, love, anxiety and hope expressed through spoken word and movement. The pieces in <em>Ouroboros <\/em>are entirely original works and offer a passionate glimpse into contemporary political and social issues.<\/p>\n<p>Each performance will be followed by a livestream \u201ctalkback\u201d discussion panel hosted by members of Sandbox Theatre.
