{"id":71026,"date":"2021-03-10T10:50:55","date_gmt":"2021-03-10T15:50:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=71026"},"modified":"2021-03-10T16:16:46","modified_gmt":"2021-03-10T21:16:46","slug":"student-led-event-to-shine-light-on-women-in-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/03\/student-led-event-to-shine-light-on-women-in-business\/","title":{"rendered":"Student-led event to shine light on women in business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A popular student-run event is moving online to continue the conversations around this year\u2019s International Women\u2019s Day theme of Choose to Challenge.<\/p>\n<p>Taking place Sunday, March 14, the Brock Women in Business (WIB) student club presents The Rise, an event that features speakers from various business backgrounds sharing their experiences around diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the virtual event platform Hopin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve seen the power of having diverse thoughts and backgrounds come together to create something really beautiful,\u201d said WIB President Jayna Sutaria. \u201cWith the way the pandemic has affected women, it\u2019s even more important to talk about these issues now.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The morning features a series of Fireside Chats on imposter syndrome, finding allies in the workplace and talking about LGBTQ+ pride in business.
