Although campus visits remain on hold, prospective students have the chance to immerse themselves in the Brock University experience next month.<\/p>\n
On Monday, March 1, the University will launch its Online Experience Series, a month-long virtual initiative meant to provide Badger hopefuls and their families with everything they need to know about the next step in their educational journey.<\/p>\n
Throughout the month, Brock will offer more than 65 live webinars, Q&A sessions and other online events aimed at giving prospective students a taste of all that Brock has to offer. The Online Experience Series will also include live chats with student ambassadors and staff, guided virtual tours of the main campus, and specialized tours of the Goodman School of Business and Marilyn I. Walker School of Fine and Performing Arts. Student ambassadors, who lead the tours, will share their personal Brock experiences and field questions from viewers.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese online sessions will allow students to get their questions answered, learn about Brock\u2019s programs, supports and services, and simply connect with the University,\u201d said Carly Dugo, Recruitment Officer, Campus Initiatives. \u201cWe want to engage with as many students as we can and share with them why Brock University is a top choice for so many young learners.\u201d<\/p>\n
The initiative will be held in place of Brock\u2019s Spring Open House \u2014 a single-day, on-campus event that traditionally marks one of the most important dates on the recruitment calendar.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe may not be able to be together in person, but we still want to bring that connected experience to students from the comfort of their own homes,\u201d Dugo said. \u201cWe\u2019ve heard loud and clear that people want to interact with us. They want to hear from our students, faculty and staff about what it means to be a part of the Brock community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Live sessions, which focus on specific programs, services and departments, will run Monday to Thursday at 5, 6 and 7 p.m., as well as Saturdays at varying times. Specialized sessions will be offered for out-of-province, international and transfer students. After a successful online Fall Preview<\/a> event, in which live sessions were held on a single day, recorded and made available throughout the season, the decision was made to further expand the virtual experience for spring.<\/p>\n \u201cWe wanted to make this series as accessible as possible, providing prospective students and their families with many opportunities to connect with Brock ambassadors, faculty and staff,\u201d Dugo said. \u201cWe received a lot of positive feedback on our Fall Preview event and wanted to provide additional flexibility in order to reach an even larger audience this March.\u201d<\/p>\n The Online Experience Series, she said, was made possible by the support of faculty and staff from across the University who worked together to create the engaging content needed for the interactive sessions.<\/p>\n \u201cThis series is a reflection of the sense of community people often affiliate with Brock,\u201d she said. \u201cThis is just one example of how everyone comes together in support of our students.\u201d<\/p>\n
