{"id":70616,"date":"2021-02-18T09:03:50","date_gmt":"2021-02-18T14:03:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=70616"},"modified":"2021-02-18T16:07:31","modified_gmt":"2021-02-18T21:07:31","slug":"panel-to-explore-future-of-english-studies-in-era-of-decolonization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/02\/panel-to-explore-future-of-english-studies-in-era-of-decolonization\/","title":{"rendered":"Panel to explore future of English studies in era of decolonization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An upcoming online panel will explore the future of English departments in a time of increasing decolonization.<\/p>\n<p>Organized for the Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English by Ronald Cummings, Associate Professor in Brock\u2019s Department of English Language and Literature, the event titled \u201cThe End\/Future of the English Department\u201d will take place Monday, Feb. 22.<\/p>\n<p>Calls for dismantling English departments go back to the University of Nairobi in 1969, with the goal to unsettle colonial formations, decenter England and facilitate dialogue among all literatures.
