{"id":70564,"date":"2021-02-12T15:05:58","date_gmt":"2021-02-12T20:05:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=70564"},"modified":"2021-02-12T15:42:13","modified_gmt":"2021-02-12T20:42:13","slug":"alternate-grade-options-extended-to-winter-term","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/02\/alternate-grade-options-extended-to-winter-term\/","title":{"rendered":"Alternate grade options extended to Winter Term"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The grade option flexibility available to students has been extended to the current Winter Term.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, Feb. 10, Brock University Senate approved the extension of the grade options for Winter Term courses, including D3 and D1 courses. This provision was extended to support ongoing student success and to recognize the challenges students continue to face during the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>The grading options allow undergraduate students to choose how grades are presented on transcripts. Students may apply for a maximum of 5.0 credits to be used as credit\/no credit options for Honours, four-year with Major and Pass degree programs. Students enrolled in certificate programs may apply the grade options to a maximum of 1.0 credit.<\/p>\n<p>The grade options are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain the alpha\/numeric grade assigned for the course (i.e., keeping the grade as is, which is the default option). The grade option procedure is optional. Students do not need to take any action if they wish to keep the grades received for the D3 or D1 courses<\/li>\n<li>Replace the alpha\/numeric grade with a designation of \u2018Credit during Disruption\u2019 (CD) or \u2018No Credit during Disruption&#8217; (ND)<\/li>\n<li>Replace the alpha\/numeric grade with a \u2018Withdrawal during Disruption\u2019 (WDD) code. Students can withdraw from the course without academic penalty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Here&#8217;s what students need to know about the Winter Term options:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The limit of application of grade options is 5.0 credits in total, retroactive to the Winter 2020 Term<\/li>\n<li>Students are responsible for reviewing all available information to understand the implications of converting a grade to a Credit during Disruption<\/li>\n<li>Students choosing the\u00a0\u2018Withdrawal during Disruption\u2019 option will not receive a refund for withdrawn course<\/li>\n<li>Grade options forms can be sent after final D3 and D1 grades are available<\/li>\n<li>The Winter Term grade options form will be released in April and further communication will be sent to students at that time<\/li>\n<li>The deadline for form submission to Records will be June 4<\/li>\n<li>The form can only be submitted once, and once submitted, the decision is final and cannot be reversed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please review the student FAQ <a href=\"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/registrar\/grade-options-during-disruptions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">on the Office of the Registrar website<\/a>. This page will be updated as more information becomes available about Winter Term grade options.
