Education is then managed according to the free-market dynamics of consumer choice.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>What this means is parents can choose among a variety of models that receive both state funds and financial support from personal and\/or corporate sponsors. In the United States,\u00a0and more recently\u00a0in Canada, when people talk about \u201cschool choice\u201d they\u2019re often talking about how parents can or should be able to access funded or semi-funded school models like\u00a0charter schools,\u00a0school vouchers, home schooling or private schools.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>In England,\u00a0academy schools, enabled\u00a0under\u00a0Tony Blair\u2019s New Labour government, and more traditional\u00a0grammar schools\u00a0are selective schools that enable school choice.
