Cyberattacks are a growing threat to businesses, institutions and personal residences.<\/p>\n
An upcoming professional development seminar offered by the Goodman School of Business at Brock University will provide participants with the knowledge and skills needed to protect their organization\u2019s digital infrastructure.<\/p>\n
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies and institutions have moved their operations offsite by encouraging employees to work remotely from home. This has increased the vulnerability of office networks and led to a surge in cybercrime. Several industries have experienced cyberattacks via malicious email messages and malware scams, as well as targeted attacks on critical vulnerabilities through housebound employees connecting to virtual private networks.<\/p>\n
The two-day cybersecurity seminar<\/a> is part of a series developed in partnership with Supply Chain Canada Ontario Institute and Goodman Group, the Goodman School of Business\u2019s community-focused learning and development services provider.<\/p>\n Training will take place Tuesday, Jan. 26 and Wednesday, Jan. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. each day, and is aimed at professionals familiar with basic IT and security concepts looking to further their knowledge. Among other topics, participants will learn how to identify flaws in computer systems and networks, safeguard sensitive information and productivity, and implement risk management processes.<\/p>\n The seminar will be led by Tejaswini Herath, an Associate Professor with the Goodman School of Business who teaches courses in quantitative methods, information systems and information assurance, and whose research interests include information security and privacy, diffusion of information assurance practices, and security management.<\/p>\n Goodman\u2019s partnership with Supply Chain Canada means members pay a discounted rate of $795 plus HST.
