{"id":69883,"date":"2021-01-07T10:26:14","date_gmt":"2021-01-07T15:26:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=69883"},"modified":"2021-03-06T20:22:14","modified_gmt":"2021-03-07T01:22:14","slug":"reminder-decolonization-panel-event-to-focus-on-child-well-being","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2021\/01\/reminder-decolonization-panel-event-to-focus-on-child-well-being\/","title":{"rendered":"Reminder: Decolonization panel event to focus on child well-being"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The connection between land, food and child well-being will be at the centre of an online talk hosted Tuesday, Jan. 12 by the Decolonization Working Group of Brock\u2019s President\u2019s Advisory Committee on Human Rights, Equity, and Decolonization (PACHRED).<\/p>\n<p>Held from noon to 1 p.m. on Lifesize, the event aims to continue the group\u2019s discussion about the equitable treatment of Indigenous Peoples, with a specific focus on anti-racism and Indigenous children. It Is one in a series of talks to be hosted by the group this year.<\/p>\n<p>The panel will be introduced by Liette Vasseur, Professor of Biological Sciences and UNESCO Chair in Community Sustainability: from local to global.<\/p>\n<p>Vasseur\u2019s remarks will be followed by mother-daughter duo Kitty R. Lynn and Adrianne Lickers Xavier, who were the driving force behind the Our Sustenance Program at Six Nations. The program addressed food security by growing food in a community garden and transmitting knowledge about growing food to the community, particularly through work with children.
