The Brock Badgers enjoyed a memorable 2019-20 season on the field, and in the classroom.<\/p>\n
A total of 305 Brock University student-athletes made the Badgers Honour Roll by achieving an average of 80 per cent or higher last season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am immensely proud of our student-athletes and their ability to focus, manage their time and dedicate their efforts to both their academics and athletics,\u201d said Emily Allan, Interim Director, Brock Sports. \u201cThis is no easy feat to achieve, yet our student-athletes keep showing they have the drive and determination to succeed both in sport and academics.\u201d<\/p>\n
A total of 106 Badgers were named 2019-20 U SPORTS Academic All-Canadians, which are student-athletes who achieve an academic standing of 80 per cent or higher while playing a U SPORTS-sanctioned sport.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis validates all of the effort that I put into these various aspects of my life,\u201d said women\u2019s hockey player Kaitlyn Colonna, a fourth-year Kinesiology student. \u201cI enjoy keeping busy and I take great pride in achieving a certain level of success on and off the ice.\u201d<\/p>\n
At the provincial level, Brock tallied a total of 207 Ontario University Athletics Academic All-Canadians.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a reflection of all the hard work I put in. It lets me realize my sacrifices were worth it,\u201d said men\u2019s wrestler and third-year Kinesiology student Bobby Narwal, who helped his team win a national title last season. \u201cWhether it\u2019s not going out with friends, because I\u2019m in the library studying or at practice, or not going home to see my family every weekend. An honour like this makes me feel confident in myself, that I\u2019m on the right path.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Badgers women\u2019s volleyball and softball teams recorded the highest overall average of 80.9 per cent, while the women\u2019s soccer team registered 80.7 per cent.<\/p>\n
