Brock University\u2019s Faculty of Education will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Joint PhD in Educational Studies program<\/a> with a series of upcoming panel discussions.<\/p>\n

A partnership between Brock University, Lakehead University and the University of Windsor, the Joint PhD will be highlighted during the Faculty of Education\u2019s annual PhD Meet and Greet Thursday, Nov. 26 from 6 to 8 p.m.<\/p>\n

The event will be held virtually and will include the first in a series of online panel discussions around the theme Leading in Times of Change. All members of the Brock community are welcome to attend.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the years, academics, researchers, administrators and many professionals have graduated from our program,\u201d said Joyce Mgombelo, Joint PhD in Educational Studies Program Director and Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education. \u201cThe celebration will bring together students, faculty, staff and alumni to engage in conversations, acknowledging that the Joint PhD program is an inspirational, encouraging and supportive community.\u201d<\/p>\n

The program committee hopes participants will leave the celebration feeling inspired and supported by sharing knowledge and building collegial networks.<\/p>\n

The theme of the discussion series was chosen to help participants respond to issues in changing times, including social injustice and changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. The panel discussions are also an opportunity for dialogue between faculty and doctoral students.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe opted for the panel discussion to ensure that we cover both the depth and breadth of the topics under consideration, engaging all the participants in difficult, respectful and critical conversations about the role of doctoral studies in times of change,\u201d said William Ankomah, Joint PhD student and one of the organizers of the events.<\/p>\n

Each event will include several panelists and will allow time for small breakout group conversations.<\/p>\n
