As it has in the past, an event dedicated to celebrating female leadership in Niagara will feature a number of Brock community members.<\/p>\n
Amongst its robust speakers list, this year\u2019s Niagara Leadership Summit for Women<\/a> (NLSW) includes nine presenters with connections to the University.<\/p>\n Hosted by the YWCA Niagara Region, the seventh annual event celebrates and discusses female leadership in all forms. While the summit usually takes place on Brock\u2019s campus, it will be held virtually next week from Tuesday, Oct. 20 to Thursday, Oct. 22.<\/p>\n Trecia McLennon, Intercultural Communications Co-ordinator, Office of Human Rights and Equity Services, was named this year\u2019s keynote speaker.<\/p>\n \u201cI am deeply honoured and excited to be selected as NLSW\u2019s keynote speaker for 2020,\u201d said McLennon. \u201cWomen leaders all over the world and right here in the Niagara region are stepping up to move forward and lead with passion, compassion and positive intention. We are in historic times; let\u2019s embrace the challenge and the opportunity to rise together and do better.\u201d<\/p>\n The theme of this year\u2019s summit \u2018Rise Together,\u2019 focuses on the importance of women\u2019s leadership in the community and recognizes the different ways in which leadership presents itself.<\/p>\n \u201cWhen the NLSW Planning Committee selected our theme, it felt both so natural and relevant to the times we\u2019re living in,\u201d said Grace Howes, Community and Public Relations Co-ordinator for the YWCA and Event Co-ordinator for NLSW. \u201cEveryone in our community can be an impactful leader, and now more than ever our community needs women\u2019s voices.\u201d<\/p>\n Brock has been involved with the NSLW since 2014, but the efforts made by the Women in Leadership<\/a> initiative on campus has increased participation.<\/p>\n Brock students, alumni, faculty and staff members are among the speakers in the program and will present on a variety of topics, including:<\/p>\n A full list of speakers is available on the event website<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n
