{"id":68594,"date":"2020-10-14T08:58:23","date_gmt":"2020-10-14T12:58:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=68594"},"modified":"2020-10-14T16:42:36","modified_gmt":"2020-10-14T20:42:36","slug":"brock-prof-to-host-online-discussion-on-experimental-writing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2020\/10\/brock-prof-to-host-online-discussion-on-experimental-writing\/","title":{"rendered":"Brock prof to host online discussion on experimental writing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Experimental poet and Brock English Professor Gregory Betts will host a free panel discussion as part of an Irish literary festival Thursday, Oct. 15.<\/p>\n<p>Betts will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.redlinebookfestival.ie\/index.php?p=programme\/experimental-writing-with-christodoulos-makris-kimberly-campanello-alice-lyons\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">host a conversation<\/a> with poets Kimberly Campanello and Christodoulus Makris, as well as novelist Alice Lyon, exploring the current state of experimental writing today and where authors anticipate it will go next.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe three featured speakers are all experimental authors, but approach the field in wildly different ways,\u201d says Betts. \u201cThe panel highlights the idea of experimentation, but also what is at stake in inventing new literary forms to suit new cultures in their emergence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Held annually in October, the Redline Festival celebrates the best in Irish and international writing.
