From a trivia night and virtual escape room to professional development workshops and information sessions, students joining the Goodman School of Business can expect a wide variety of events that will familiarize them with the Goodman and Brock University community.<\/p>\n
All incoming undergraduate Goodman students recently received an email to their brocku.ca account inviting them to register for a complimentary welcome package and to visit the Goodman Orientation website<\/a>, which features videos from Goodman students, alumni, staff and faculty members.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Goodman Business Students\u2019 Association events<\/strong><\/p>\n Orientation events kick off Friday, Sept. 11 when the Goodman Business Students\u2019 Association (BSA) hosts Clubs Day<\/a> from noon to 5 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. The virtual fair will introduce students to executives from Goodman\u2019s nine undergraduate student clubs, share information about upcoming club events and initiatives, connect students with people who share their interests and discuss how joining a club can offer students practical business experience. More information, including a schedule, will be posted on the BSA website<\/a>.<\/p>\n The BSA continues their event programming Saturday, Sept. 12 with Goodman Escapes<\/a>, a virtual escape room game, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams and Google Forums. Baking with the BSA<\/a> will take place Monday, Sept. 14 from 2 to 4 p.m. via the BSA’s Instagram<\/a> Live and the BSA Trivia Night planned for Thursday, Sept. 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. via Kahoot. The BSA\u2019s events conclude Saturday, Sept. 19 with a Casual Networking Night from 7 to 9 p.m. on Microsoft Teams. \u00a0For more information and to register for events, visit the BSA website<\/a>.<\/p>\n Get there with Goodman<\/strong><\/p>\n Also taking place this month is Get there with Goodman, a three-part co-curricular certificate program hosted by the Goodman School of Business.<\/p>\n The first component of the series begins Sunday, Sept. 13. The Competitor Development Program<\/a> is a case competition training session that teaches students how to approach cases and present their ideas effectively. Students will have one week to move through several modules via Sakai before presenting a final group presentation to judges on Sunday, Sept. 20 via Microsoft Teams.<\/p>\n Students who complete the Competitor Development Program can then move on to the next two components of Get there with Goodman: The Presentation Etiquette Workshop<\/a> on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and the Case Interview Skills Session<\/a> on Wednesday, Nov. 25 from 5 to 6 p.m. At the end of the three sessions, students will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to apply for the Consulting Pathway Program<\/a>.<\/p>\n Virtual Goodman Gate<\/strong><\/p>\n Casual pop-in information sessions are also planned for Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout September.
