{"id":66643,"date":"2020-06-24T09:12:24","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T13:12:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/?p=66643"},"modified":"2020-06-25T11:08:22","modified_gmt":"2020-06-25T15:08:22","slug":"human-rights-and-equity-welcomes-new-accessibility-and-inclusion-advisor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brocku.ca\/brock-news\/2020\/06\/human-rights-and-equity-welcomes-new-accessibility-and-inclusion-advisor\/","title":{"rendered":"Human Rights and Equity welcomes new accessibility and inclusion advisor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"BodyA\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">A familiar face in the Brock University community is moving into a new role.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Alison Rothwell, President of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers&#8217; Federation (OSSTF), will be taking on the role of accessibility and inclusion advisor in the Office of Human Rights and Equity (HRE) as of July 1. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"BodyA\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cI am thrilled to be joining such a passionate and dynamic team and am excited to help contribute towards achieving Brock\u2019s strategic priorities with respect to accessibility and inclusion,\u201d said Rothwell. <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">\u201cIn particular, I am looking forward to having the opportunity to examine how operationalized normalcy impacts accessibility and inclusion in post-secondary practices, policies and philosophies as we work to help improve accessibility and inclusivity for all staff, faculty and students across campus.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Rothwell is known for her direct communication, relentless work ethic and unflagging good humour in both her professional and personal life.\u00a0<span lang=\"EN-US\">She holds a degree in Comparative Literature and Philosophy from McMaster University and is in the final stages of completing her master&#8217;s in Applied Disability Studies at Brock.
